Tim Watkins copyContinuing the legacy of his father at the helm of the Watts Labor Community Action Committee, Tim Watkins has grown a local institution that actively ensures a better future for Watts.

While leading WLCAC, Watkins helped create the first state-of-the- art major housing complex for homeless families in Watts, cultivated South Los Angeles’ first urban agriculture initiative, brought a permanent civil rights exhibition in South Los Angeles, and created Watts’ first public policy institute. The organization operates on a $15-million budget, offering services such as tax preparation, child care, after-school programs, and prisoner reintegration. CDU was also fortunate to have his leadership on the Board.
