Media Credentials

All media credentials for Jazz At Drew 2017 will be provided at the discretion of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU). CDU reserves the right to accept or deny credentials.

Pre-registration is strongly recommended.

Media credentials will be granted to working members of the press only. This includes editors, reporters, bloggers, book authors, producers, camera crews and photographers. Credentials will not be granted to those holding non-editorial media positions—e.g., publishers, graphic designers, public relations/marketing personnel.

Print

Established print outlets include newspapers, consumer and trade magazines and wire services. To qualify as a staff reporter from an established print outlet, the following must be provided the day of the event:

  • A business ID badge with name, editorial title and media outlet’s logo; and
  • A copy of driver’s license or government issued photo identification; and
  • A bylined article from the publication written by you and published within the past six months.

To qualify as a freelance reporter from an established print outlet, the following must also be provided the day of the event:

  • A business ID badge with name, editorial title and media outlet’s logo; and/or
  • A letter from a publisher, editor or producer (on their letterhead) stating that you are covering this concert on assignment for a bona fide media outlet; and
  • A bylined article on a concert-related topic written by you and published within the past three months. 

Broadcast 

Established broadcast media include television and radio networks, stations and programs. To qualify as broadcast media, the following must be provided the day of the event:

  • A business ID badge with name, editorial title and media outlet’s logo; and
  • A copy of driver’s license or government issued photo identification.

Online 

Established online media outlets include websites and/or podcasts that are fully launched and have been operational for six months. There should be a record of frequent publishing—at least weekly—with regular updates with original and current material relevant to either CDU or Jazz At Drew.  Blog traffic should exceed 2,000 unique visits per month.   The reporter or blogger should have a record of online work addressing jazz, R&B, music in general, or another topic relevant to CDU.

Personal, non-commercial or enthusiast websites do not qualify.

To qualify as online media, please provide ALL of the following:

  • A business ID badge or business card with name, editorial title and media outlet’s logo; and
  • A copy of driver’s license or government issued photo identification; and
  • URLs to articles with your name and title appearing in an editorial capacity. Your articles must have been published within the past three months.
